Using facebook is the online equivalent of staring at yourself in the mirror. Women who post loads of photos of themselves on their sites, are more likely to base their self-worth on appearance and use social networking to compete for attention. But it doesn't reveal any good side of your personality. the reasons are -
1. It reveals your insecurity and low self esteem
The more insecure you are about your appearance the more you seek attention online.Study shows that women are more likely than men to managing their profile and sharing their photos online. The finding also suggests that those with low self esteem check their facebook page more than normal.
2.It's closely linked with narcissism
You take psychology tests to measure your level of narcissism , which the study defines as 'a pervasive pattern of grandiosity , need for admiration and an exaggerated sense of self-importance' .Those who frequently update their status, tag themselves in photos and large number of virtual friends , are more likely to exhibit narcissistic traits. It's also founded that people with high level of narcissism were more likely to spend more than one hour a day on facebook, and they are more likely to post digitally enhanced personal photos.
3.It harms your real life relationship
It allows you to thrive on shallow relationship while avoiding genuine warmth and empathy. over-sharing of photos harms your relationships because people other than very close friends and relatives , don't seem to relate well to those who constantly photos of themselves.
4. It makes people like you less
Uploading too many photos actually can make peoples like you less. It's not just the number of photos you share but , but it's the type as well. Sharing self photos(looking at you ,selfie nation) lead to a decrease in '' support and intimacy'' in almost every situation and sharing lot of photos with other friends has a negative impacts on even your close relationships.
Sharing too much photos reveals the fact that you are in emotional stress. This type of over sharing is a sign of your loneliness.
6. You react aggressively on derogatory comments
A study has found that people react more aggressively to derogatory comments made about their photos.
7.You need attention always
It doesn't make people like you when you use facebook to compete for attention, It doesn't make any good impression at all.
